8 Days Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro & Volcanoes Park Rwanda
Destinations: Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Volcanoes National park
Highlights: Flamingos, tree-climbing lions, large herds of elephants, huge baobabs, possibility to see the ‘big five’ and photo shy mountain Gorillas.
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Depart Arusha for the short two hour drive to Tarangire. Spend the day with the roof of the vehicle open, viewing game and the beautiful landscape. After picnic lunch, continue exploring the park before proceeding to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, depart your accommodation, game spotting while leaving the park. From here, it is less than a one hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Here you can enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon make we make our way to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
After a very early breakfast, we depart for Ngorongoro National Park which is less than an hours drive from Lake Manyara. After entering the park, we drive through the beautiful forest and misty mountainside before coming to the crater rim. Here we begin the steep descent down to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Enjoy an amazing day game viewing wild game in their unique environment. After picnic lunch, and afternoon game drive, mid-afternoon we depart for Arusha.
All within close proximity to Arusha, these three parks offer a diverse range of landscapes. Tarangire National Park retains a real air of undiscovered Africa and offers great game viewing during the dry months of August-October. The park looks dramatically different in the wet and dry seasons and is a favourite for bird lovers with over 300 species recorded. There are plenty of larger animals including wildebeest, impala, griaffe and zebra, as well as Tanzania’s largest herds of elephants.
Not far from Tarangire is Lake Manyara which offers 325sq km of open grasslands, forests and the dominant red western rift escarpment that provides a stunning backdrop to the lake itself. In Manyara you can see elephants, hippo, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, baboon, gazelle and not to forget the amazing tree climbing lions. The lake attracts migratory flamingos and over 300 different species of birds. Ngorongoro was once a young volcano, until it collapsed around two million years ago leaving a perfect caldera around 20kms across and one km deep – the largest in the world. Once on the crater floor you can explore the prominent soda lake (Magadi) and enjoy close encounters with some to the 30,000 large mammals which call this unique environment home.

Day 4: Arusha – Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by our driver/guide and be transferred to your hotel in Kigali arriving for overnight on bed and breakfast.
Day 5: Kigali – Gisozi Genocide Memorial – Kimironko Market – Kigali City – Nyamirambo women center.
At 10:00 depart for a day of up close memorable experiences with some Rwanda beautiful people and culture.
1. Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site
The was officially opened on April 7th, 2004 (on the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide). This site was built to commemorate the 250,000 Tutsis murdered during the genocide. Special tribute goes to the Aegis Trust, a UK based charity organization in collaboration with the Kigali High Council. Aegis signifies “shield” or “trust”. This organization campaigns against crimes against humanity and genocide. It was established in 2000.
The memorial site has the following: the main historical exhibition, a Children’s Memorial exhibition and an exhibition on comparative genocide – called Wasted Lives. The 4-acre memorial gardens contain 10 mass graves and the National Genocide Documentation Centre
2. Kimironko Market
This is a huge local market. You can buy almost anything there. Alley upon alley of fascinating products / produce and vendors. I loved the bantering interaction with the vendors. Outside the main market, stalls sell everything from meat and fish to sunglasses and household items.

Day 6: Kigali – Ruhengeri
After your morning breakfast, depart for Ruhengeri area the second largest town in Rwanda, with its stunning backdrop of five volcanic mountains – The Virungas . Arrive in time for your hotel check in. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel.

Day 7; Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the National Park headquarters – Kinigi to meet your guides for the day. After completing our park formalities, we are embark on a once in a life time experience on the gorilla trek tour. Once you spot the gorillas, you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. Return to your hotel for lunch and later afternoon at leisure.

Day 8; Golden Monkey – Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will again drive to the park headquarters where you will have briefings and formalities for the golden monkeys trekking. The golden monkeys are rare, beautiful, and distinctive bamboo-associated primates of the blue monkey family and endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley. After golden monkeys trekking, you will have lunch and then enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali with onward transfer to the airport for your evening outbound flight.
