11 Days Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti & Volcanoes National Park Rwanda.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Depart Arusha for the short two hour drive to Tarangire. Spend the day with the roof of the vehicle open, viewing game and the beautiful landscape. After picnic lunch, continue exploring the park before proceeding to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart your accommodation, game spotting while leaving the park. From here, it is less than a one hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Here you can enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon make we make our way to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti National Park

Rise early for breakfast, then depart for the Serengeti which is approximately a three hour drive. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch for game in the Ngorongoro/Serengeti Conservaiton Area. On entering the Serengeti National Park start a game drive heading in the direction of tonight’s accommodation. Stop for picnic lunch, then continue searching for game in the afternoon. Late afternoon, arrive at your camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast, embark on a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Stop for picnic lunch during the day then return to camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, undertake a morning game drive and return to camp/lodge for lunch. Then depart for Ngorongoro National Park, arriving in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After a very early breakfast, drive through the beautiful forest and misty mountainside before coming to the crater rim. Here we begin the steep descent down into the Ngorongoro Crater. Enjoy a full day game drive stopping at the picnic point for lunch. Mid-afternoon, depart for Arusha.

Day 7: Arusha – Kigali

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by our driver/guide and be transferred to your hotel in Kigali arriving for overnight on bed and breakfast.

Day 8:  Kigali – Gisozi Genocide Memorial – Kimironko Market  – Kigali City – Nyamirambo women center.

At 10:00 depart for a day of up close memorable experiences with some Rwanda beautiful people and culture.

1. Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site

The was officially opened on April 7th, 2004 (on the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide). This site was built to commemorate the 250,000 Tutsis murdered during the genocide. Special tribute goes to the Aegis Trust, a UK based charity organization in collaboration with the Kigali High Council. Aegis signifies “shield” or “trust”. This organization campaigns against crimes against humanity and genocide. It was established in 2000.

The memorial site has the following: the main historical exhibition, a Children’s Memorial exhibition and an exhibition on comparative genocide – called Wasted Lives. The 4-acre memorial gardens contain 10 mass graves and the National Genocide Documentation Centre

2. Kimironko Market

This is a huge local market. You can buy almost anything there. Alley upon alley of fascinating products / produce and vendors. I loved the bantering interaction with the vendors. Outside the main market, stalls sell everything from meat and fish to sunglasses and household items.

Day 9: Kigali – Nyungwe National Park via Kings Palace museum, Enthographic museum

After breakfast your guide will be waiting to pick you up and you will depart for Nyungwe National park which takes about 6 ½  hrs drive via Butare visiting enroute, the famous National Museum at Butare and the ancient King´s Palace at Nyanza. The museum was donated in 1989 by the Belgium government with some ethnic collection, the design and concept all realized in co-operation with the Royal Museum for Central Africa of Tervuren; Belgium. Ethnographic objects are grouped together according to the theme giving premium information on the daily life. Traditional ceramics and basketry are still manufactured and belong to the finest handicrafts of the region. The National Museum remained surprisingly untouched during the civil war in 1994.Have Lunch in Butare and thereafter continue to Nyungwe national park arriving for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 10: Nyungwe National Park

Take an early morning breakfast then with your packed lunch drive to this park for the starting point of your chimpanzee trek. Two species of chimpanzee occur in Africa. There is the Bonobo and the Common Chimpanzee Pan troglodytes (often shortened to Chimpanzee, and sometimes referred to as the Robust Chimpanzee). The largest remaining populations occur in central Africa (Gabon, DR Congo and Cameroon). About only 400 individuals, the population in Rwanda is an endangered one. However; it should be mentioned that it is not guaranteed to see the chimps as they are unpredictable and can move long distances in one day. Nyungwe National Park is the largest block of montane forest in East and Central Africa and it is an incredibly rich area of biodiversity. Later depart for your nature walk visiting Kamiranzovu waterfall. The forest comprises amongst many things at least 200 tree species over 280 bird species and more than 100 different types of colorful butterfly which make it a true feast of the senses for the nature lover. Later return for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 11: Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast today with your packed lunch we head again to the National Park, you will have the opportunity to do the Columbus monkey trekking. The most famous of Nyungwe primates is the Ruwenzori Columbus a race of the further wide spread Angola Columbus which is confined to the Albertine Rift. The Ruwenzori Columbus is extremely arboreal as well as acrobatic leaf-eater, simply differentiated from any different primate discovered in Nyungwe by its contrastive black general colour in addition to snow-white whiskers, shoulders plus tail tip. Have your lunch then go for the canopy walk which sets 50 me­ters above the ground with a 150-meter walkway and is the first of its kind in East Africa and third on the continent after South Africa and Ghana. It allows visitors to see the forest from above the trees and be at eye level with birds and monkeys that inhabit the upper storeys of the forest. Return to your hotel/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Nyungwe National park – Kigali

After breakfast you will depart for Kigali in time for transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
